Update: Spyker only interested in Lotus

According to Dutch car magazine Autovisie, Spyker has only shown it's interest to take over Lotus but there are no plans of actually buying Lotus. This was said by Spyker CEO Victor Muller. "It's not true that we are going to take over Lotus Cars. We are interested but that's a long shot: there are ten more candidates and Proton, the owner of Lotus, hasn't officially put the business up for sale."

Muller also says it's complete nonsense that they will move the production to England. "That's never going to happen. Spyker is Dutch, that's what makes us unique. And why are we building a brand new factory in Zeewolde then?"

Scoop: Porsche 997 GT2!

The firs pictures of the new Porsche GT2 have appeared on the web! Car fans, get ready for a stunning car with 480bhp for the four wheel driver version and at least 500bhp for the rear wheel drive version. The GT2 weighs 100-150 kilos less than the 997 Turbo so this might be the ultimate racing machine!

Rolls Royce welcomes the coupé

The big boss of Rolls Royce, Ian Robertson, has confirmed the plans of a coupé version of the Phantom Drophead Coupé. Production plans might be ready within 15 to 18 months. If the green light has been given, Rolls Royce has a fleet of four models in 2010: the Phantom, the Phantom Drophead Coupé, the new Coupé and a smaller saloon car which will come out in 2009.

The Phantom Drophead Coupé is a best seller. So far, it has been sold out. Rolls Royce is expecting to deliver 150 units this year and another 200 next year.

Spyker might takeover Lotus

Dutch car manufacturer Spyker has plans to takeover Lotus, the British producer of small and fast sportscars. It is said that Lotus will be producing the new Spyker D12 and the production of other Spyker cars might move to the United Kingdom.

Spyker CEO Victor Muller has signed a 'letter of understanding', a pre-contract with Lotus in the UK. This is not the first time Spyker has shown it's interest in Lotus. A few years ago Spyker said they were interested in taking over some production lines of Lotus. The British car manufacturer is not in an amazingly good financial condition. Lotus is part of the Malaysian car company Proton.

We'll keep you updated on the progress.

BMW M3 E92 Concept Car

BMW is proud to show a concept version of the E92 M3. The new M3 will get a V8 engine, that's for the first time in the history of the modell. The hood is made of carbon fibre which can also be found on the M6. It is expected that the BMW M3 production version will be shown on the IAA in Frankfurt.

Extreme: Spyker C12 Zagato

We already announced that Spyker will build a special sportscar in cooperation with the Italian designcompany Zagato. Zagato has worked with companies like Aston Martin and Diatto in the past and now they are going to work with Spyker. The Spyker C12 Zagato has arrived!

What can we expect from this hyperexclusive car? Well, the C12 Zagato will get a 6.0L W12 Audi engine producing 500 bhp. Top speed will be just above 300 kilometers per hour and and you'll be at 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds.

Spyker will only build 24 units of the car and most of them are sold already. Prices will start from 495.000 euro so including all taxes that would be around 811.000 euro in the Netherlands... Thank god there are still rich people in the Netherlands who can afford a car like this. Compared to the Ferrari Enzo which costed about 900.000 euro, this car is way more exclusive as the production count is fifteen times less.

The car will be shown to the general audience today at the Geneva Motorshow.

Bentley presents the new Brooklands

Bentley has presented the new Brooklands. After a very long period Bentley has created a car with all the classical lines. It's basically the new Azure with a hardtop. The engine is quite familiar, a 6.75L V8 with 500 bhp. The car will be made in the United Kingdom and the name refers to the racetrack in Surrey. Bentley has limited the production to 505 units. Prices are not available yet.
