Video: Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder Hamann
Ever walked around the Koenigsallee in the German city of Duesseldorf? Then you probably recognize the area. I was lucky to have a ride in a Hamann tuned Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, one of the very few, if not the only one made by Hamann. The car has an extra 30 bhp, full body kit, rims, spoilers, exhausts and tons of carbon fibre in the interior. Very sick ride, amazing acceleration.

For sale: Lotus Exige police car
A while ago we wrote an article about the Lotus Exige that was turned into a police car. This Exige is now for sale at Dream Machines in Heathfield, UK. Unfortunately the car comes without the stickers and extra lights. The Sussex police used the car as a promotional vehicle to make people aware of speed and promote road safety. This promo car was funded by Lotus itself and the dealership. The car hasn't even been used by the police! What a bummer. This Exige S has done 6000 miles and will be delivered to a new customer without the stickers, roof lightning in Arctic Silver. Price of this beauty: 33.995 GBP.

Could this be the future of Lotus?
Several companies are investing or have invested a lot of cash in expensive concepts some years ago for a SUV or station wagon. The last one is more known as a shooting brake or an estate. Lotus doesn't have such a car. Well, except for the Elan Shooting Brake years ago. Porsche started a few years ago with the Cayenne. Until now, this is one of the most successful SUV's at the moment. By the end of 2006 the Cayenne had its first facelift. Land Rover has been building SUV's for years and BMW joined the SUV club a couple of years ago with the X5 and X3.
We've found this creation of an Elise series 1 shooting brake. For some reason it looks a bit like a Smart Roadster from the side. Could something like this ever go in production in limited numbers? We don't know. We certainly don't hope so. The Elise series 1 looks awesome as it is. Shooting brakes, SUV's...it just doesn't fit in the "Lotus profile". People don't think about such a car when talk about Lotus. Let's keep it that way.
Something that does fit in the "Lotus profile" is the new Eagle. Autogespot showed spyshots of the new Eagle a while ago. These are probably the best spyshots on the web available yet. The Eagle is going to be a 2+2 seater sportscar and the launched is scheduled for the 2008 London Motor Show.

Leaked: photos new Mercedes SLK
Pictures of the facelifted Mercedes Benz SLK have leaked on the internet. Autowereld reports that Mercedes will officially publish the specs and images tonight at midnight but some pictures have found their way online already. The SLK has a new front bumper which splits up in the middle to synchonize it with the "drop" in the grill. Mercedes gave the car some new exhausts as well. There are not that many changes under the hood except for a new 3.5 liter V6 engine with 280 bhp. This is about 10 bhp more than the current SLK.
Mercedes also changed the interior of the car. The SLK has the Porsche Boxster and Audi TT as its competition.

Essen 2007: Lorinser CL 2008
Even the CL class got upgraded by Lorinser. The base of this Lorinser L55RS is a Mercedes CL 500. The CL looks almost exactly the same as the new Lorinser C-class, except for the fact that this particular car has the air intakes on the side of the car. The front bumper is the same, just like the rear bumper and the sideskirts. Not only the exterior has been changed, Lorinser upgraded the engine as well from 388 to 460 bhp. If you do the math you'll see that this is an upgrade of almost 20%.
Essen 2007: Lorinser C 2008
Lorinser was proud to bring their impression of the all new Mercedes C-class to the Essen Motor Show 2007. According to the press release, Lorinser tried to make the C-class a bit less boring as it comes to looks. The German tuning company tried to do this by replacing the standard exhausts by build-in ones. We saw Lorinser doing this at the new S-class earlier this year. Other add-ons are the sideskirts, alloy wheels and a special front spoiler.
This Lorinser doesn't have the side air intakes like a lot of Lorinser S-classes have. This is optional though.

Lotus Type 119C Soapbox
Okay, it exists for a while now but that doesn't make it less cool. This is the Lotus Type 119C Soapbox. This kind of car might remind you of those soapbox races you were doing yourself years and years ago when you were just a little kid. The 119C was not built to go fast but solely for aerodynamic efficiency. This vehicle has 20 inch wheels , a carbon composite monocoque and lightweight titanium steering parts.
Test driver Paul Adams managed to reach speeds over 63 miles per hour. Lotus used this car during the "Gravity Racing Club Soapbox Challenge" at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Essen 2007: Hamann Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Hamann was the first tuning company that made a full bodykit for Ferrari's new powermachine, the 599 GTB Fiorano. The car hasn't changed that much under the hood except for the fact that Hamann managed to get another 53 bhp from the engine. The total amount of power went up to 673 bhp. Hamann used a different exhaust system as well. This car looks much cooler because of the big 21" black rims.
On the outside you will see tons of carbon. The front spoiler is made from carbon, the rear spoiler is made from carbon, the air vents on the side of the car are also made of carbon. The side skirts are made of 'normal' materials though. This Ferrari 599 looks different from last years 599 that Hamann brought to the Essen Motor Show because this version has a air intake installed on top of the car. Unfortunately this intake has absolutely no function, except for air being able to go thru it. It doesn't lead to the engine like the intake on a Lotus Exige.
Ah well, once again Hamann has shown their way of upgrading a car. We like it!

Essen 2007: Maserati MC12 Corsa Edo Competition
This is the Maserati MC12 Corsa Edo Competition. You might be surprised but this supercar is street legal and is capable of doing 326 kilometers per hour. Edo showed this car on the Essen Motor Show 2007 along with a BMW Z4 Coupe which was less interesting than this MC12. The six liter V12 produces 755 bhp. Edo installed a F1 gearbox. In case you're interested of buying one, the price is 1.2 million euros. More information in the press release.
Introduction of the edo MC12 Corsa
Sport suspension with nose lift function
Specially designed high-flow exhaust system
New high-performance brake system
New tire & wheel package
During last year’s FIA GT championship Maserati drove their competitors into the ground with the MC12 GT1 (which already spawned the MC12). On the occasion of the overall victory, Maserati introduced the limited edition (12 units) MC12 Corsa.
The Über-Maserati weighs nearly 400 kg (880 lbs) less than the base MC12 (1,150 instead of 1,531 kg [2530 lbs instead of 3368 lbs]). This corresponds to a power-to-weight ratio of 1.5 kg / hp (3.36 lb / hp). With 755 hp and 740 Nm (546 ft-lb) of torque, the Corsa will run circles around the regular MC12 (632 hp).
edo competition does not shy away from extreme sports cars such as this one; instead it gives them finishing touches! Consequently a special suspension system developed by edo competition and manufactured by KW was fitted. The independently adjustable compression and rebound damping permits truly individual suspension setups. The unique system, with its three different adjustments, allows for low-speed compression damping characteristics to be altered while the high-speed settings, having a strong influence on ride-quality, remain constant. True racing technology for the road! Additionally the nose lift function available on the regular MC12 is carried over to avoid front and underbody damage.
Engine-wise, edo competition leaves the 755 hp–strong MC12 Corsa untouched. However, the 6.0-liter V12 now announces its power through a newly developed edo competition high-flow exhaust system – and it does so with a soundtrack guaranteed to induce goose bumps! The sports exhaust system with electronically controlled butterfly valves provides visual cues to the MC12 Corsa’s power thanks to dual exhaust tips, each with a diameter of 100 mm (4 in). edo competition put a strong emphasis on quality during its construction. The muffler and exhaust tips are made from durable V2A stainless steel. And, not to be overlooked: a remote control to adjust the sound intensity has been installed!
For better cold braking properties during road use, edo competition employed a ceramic composite high-performance brake system with 396 mm (15.6 in) rotors in the front and 360 mm (14.2 in) rotors in the rear along with special brake pads at both ends.
edo competition had newly developed forged wheels (in black) custom made for the edo MC12 Corsa. On the front axle they’re of size 10 J x 19 and on the rear axle of size 13 J x 20. The wheels employed by edo competition are shod with 265/35 ZR19 (front) and 335/30 ZR20 (rear) tires.
An official approval for road service is in preparation so that this unique edo MC12 can also be admired outside of the race track.
edo MC12 Corsa Specifications
Engine 6.0-ltr. V12
Power 755 hp (555 kW) at 8000 rpm
Torque 740 Nm (546 ft-lb) at 5500 rpm

Essen 2007: Mini Cooper by Hamann
Hamann shows this modified Mini Cooper on the Essen Motor Show 2007. The first thing that you will probably notice are the orange wheels. Don't worry, they are optional. Hamann makes the Mini look more sporty and maybe a bit more agressive. The bodykit is a front spoiler, side skirts and a diffuser mounted on the rear. The car seems to be lowered a bit as well. I would go for the normal wheels but this black on white color combination looks very nice.

Photo: Jaguar XKR
Detailed shot of the new 2006 Jaguar XKR coupé. I absolutely love this car, for some reason the design of this new Jaguar looks so British. At first I had to get used to the front. It didn't look mean. The rear of the car looks absolutely stunning, great lights and "ass". This shot was taken in downtown London where you will see more new XKR cars.
More news on the 2008 Ferrari!
More news has been released about the new 2008 Ferrari. Sources say the F149 will have its revised launch at the Paris motorshow in 2008. Customers should be getting the new car from the last quarter of 2008. Ferrari has built a car with a full metal roof, similar to the Mercedes SL. The roof folds all the way back in the body of the car so it's basically a coupe convertible.
The engine produces 500 bhp and the will look like the 599 GTB Fiorano. Seats in the back will be similar like the Mercedes SL. The SL will also be the market Ferrari is aiming at. Prices will be like the Ferrari F430. Sounds "cheap" though if you're looking at the 500 bhp.

Video: Production process Lotus cars
We all know Lotus as a car manufacturer who builds lightweight cars. The less weight, the more power. This is a very nice video where you will be able to see how Lotus cars are being built.
Jaguar XKR painted in Jaguar-look!
Okay, it's a bit difficult to explain. Last week in Duesseldorf in Germany we ran into this very strange Jaguar XKR. The car was painted like the real animal but instead of the brown skin, the base was dark green/blue. There are a lot of dots on it which are supposed to look the same like the skin of the Jaguar animal. It looks very cool! This is definately one of those cars you drive to get noticed.
The convertible XKR is equipped with a supercharged 4.2 liter V8 and it's capable of reaching a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

Essen 2007: BMW X5 from Hamann
Hamann shows the upgraded BMW X5 on the Essen Motor Show 2007. This SUV has a so called E70 X5 performance pack. The X5 was given a brand new exhaust system and 20 or 22" rims. The Hamann X5 is based on the 4.8i version. This cars power has been upgraded from 355 bhp to 400 bhp which means it's 0.3 seconds faster on the 0 - 100 kilometers per hour run.
Essen 2007: Gemballa Mirage GT
Woooooooow, this is the sickest ride we've ever seen! Not only the car is amazing, just have a look at the color. Matte black looks incredibly cool on this car with the yellow accents on the brakes, front lights and the engine in the rear. The yellow circle eyes look mean. It makes the looks like a beast. Such a great combination with the performance of the car.
Although I still prefer the black on white Gemballa Mirage GT from Saudi Arabia. You know, the white car with the black rims and the super sick sound it has. This matte black Gemballa Mirage GT was "parked" next to the Porsche 9ff GT9 on the Essen Motor Show. Under the hood you will find a 5.7 L V10 which produces 750 bhp. The Mirage GT has a topspeed of 400 kilometers per hour.
